Influence of sex, age and body mass index on healthy colon anatomy

Objective: This study analyzes the influence of sex, age and body mass index on anatomy colon as determined by three-dimensional reconstructions from computed tomography scans. Methods: 130 patients were included, each whom underwent a reconstruction abdominal CT scans without obvious signs pathology. Information corresponding to was obtained patient, morphometric data measurements taken at pubic symphysis, superior inferior mesenteric artery, hepatic angle, splenic ileocecal junction sigmoid-descending considered. Results: Morphological analysis showed an important anatomical variability reconstructed colon. Statistical significant differences in when grouping subjects (under 65 years vs over years) (normopese, overweight obese). Conclusions: Colon variations can be studied with scans, indicating that have such variability.
